Many dogs end up in shelters because they don’t turn out the way their owners hoped they would, with proper training this situation can be avoided. A trained dog that is trained well will be a healthy and happy member of your family.

Try not to reinforce bad behavior in your dog. This means denying your dog with attention or treats for doing something you don’t want it to do.If the dog jumps at you, don’t encourage him by slipping him a morsel one night or allowing others to do so.

It is easy to train a pooch to roll with treats. The first step is to get the dog to lay down first. Then, put a treat close to the floor near the side of the dog’s head, raise it up and move it over to the opposite side. He should then roll his body over while following the treat.

Do not use shock collar to train your dog. They don’t often work very well and cost more than training methods which are expensive to boot. They can also discourage good behaviors as they inhibit your dog to be confused about all their behaviors.

If your canine jumps on top of you, quickly bring your knee up to encounter his chest and say OFF! This will not hurt if done lightly, but it will give them an uncomfortable feeling that will help teach them not to do it again. They will quickly learn to avoid doing it in order to avoid the reaction they get.

A dog requires teaching proper obedience training right from the outset. It is much easier to get a dog to learn the right way rather than to break bad habits.

Do not fatten your dog too many treats; you could make him gain some weight when you offer an excessive number as rewards.

Consistency is the most important requirements for effective training your dog. Make sure the dog when it does well and not reinforcing poor behavior. Different training methods will only confuse your dog.
